AI chat (BYOK)

An AI chat panel that answers from your own documentation using your own provider key. OwnDocs ships the integration, not a hosted AI service.

  • Bring your own key. OwnDocs never hosts, meters, or bills AI usage, so whatever you spend is settled directly with your provider.
  • Connect Anthropic, any OpenAI-compatible gateway such as OpenAI or OpenRouter, or Ollama running locally or in the cloud. Non-Anthropic providers also need a base URL and model ID.
  • The endpoint searches the site’s own index first and feeds the top matching pages to the model, so answers come from your docs rather than general web knowledge.
  • The citation list comes from the pages the endpoint actually retrieved, not from the model’s reply. A schema checks each entry carries a title, URL, and breadcrumb before rendering.
