- Whoever deploys the site picks the palette with a THEME_VARIANT environment variable, read once when the server starts.

- That light or dark choice is stored in the browser, so it holds from page to page and on the next visit.
- Every component reads its colors from CSS custom properties, so a new palette is a variable swap rather than a rewrite of each component.
